In an elastic two puck collision, what does the path of the Center of Mass look like? There is a set of collision movies on the CD in the "Movies/PRU" folder. I do have to put the caveat on these movies that some of the time codes seem to be incorrect. Later in this analysis, you will see two bumps in the velocity and/or momentum plots that indicate some anomoly due to the inconsistent frame rates.

  • Open VideoPoint
  • Open the movie "PRU007.MOV" from the "Movies/PRU" folder on the CD

When prompted,

  • enter "2" into the number of objects that you want to follow
  • Play the movie
  • Rewind the movie so that the title frame is visible
  • Change the names and masses of the two points to reflect the situation on the movie by clicking on the value in the Coordinate Systems Window.
