Though her head is floating, is the center of mass behaving as we would expect? Try fitting the Center of Mass data with a parabola to see.
  • Open the Fit Dialog by clicking on the fit icon on the graph

The pop-up menu at the top of the Fit Dialog allows you to choose between fitting the Head data and the Center of Mass data;

  • choose the Center of Mass


How does your fit look? The first term of the fit should be near 0.5*g; is it?

There are many other human body motion movies on the CD, including the diver example. Watch the web site for a description of the diver analysis, as it has a woman diving while the camera filming her pans so much that the no fixed point is visible for the entire movie; in addition, the camera rotates on some frames of the movie. It's about as complex as you can make a movie and still get great data.
