Family and Consumer Science Education prepares students for the real world by teaching how to manage resources while balancing the demands of home and career. Career Skills are emphasized in courses such as Foods & Nutrition, Nutrition & Wellness, Family Dynamics, Personal & Family Finance, Child Development, Parenting, Orientation to Teaching, Housing & Interior Design, and Human Relations.

The goal of Career Education in Fayetteville is to empower students for effective participation in an international economy as world-class workers and citizens. Currently 66 percent of the student population in grades 7 through 12 is enrolled in a career education program of study.

A student who completes a pathway by earning 3 full credits as prescribed earns the distinction of Career Education Scholar and is awarded a graduation cord, a certificate with the state of Arkansas gold seal, and is honored at a special recognition ceremony.
